Wind farm Fryslân: world’s biggest inland water wind farm

Leaf construction is proud to be involved in the construction management for Fryslân Wind Farm in the Netherlands. This is the biggest wind farm in the world to be built in inland water. The green energy supply will be located in the Frisian part of the IJsselmeer. The 89 wind turbines of the wind farm will provide 350.000 households with sustainable electricity. Each turbine generates 4.3 megawatt (MW), with Fryslân Wind Farm generating a total of 382.7 MW. When you cross the Afsluitdijk from Friesland to Noord-Holland, you will see the park on your left, level with Breezanddijk. The wind park will supply its first electricity in 2020/2021. Another benefit of this project is that the current work island will become a nature island, providing a resting and foraging area for fish and birds at Kornwerderzand.
