Walney Extension Wind Farm

Knoester was commissioned by Van Oord to work on the Walney Extension Wind Farm. Walney Extension is currently the biggest offshore wind farm. It is located in the Irish Sea and has 87 turbines with a total capacity of over 659 MW. The owners are energy company Ørsted and pension funds PFA and PKA. Walney Extension was built in two phases. For phase one, wind turbines were bought from MHI Vestas with blades from their Isle of Wight facility. In the second phase, Siemens Gamesa and CS Wind supplied the blades and towers. Leaf construction shares the vision of Ørsted as an innovative energy company that wants to contribute to a world that runs entirely on green energy.
