Impressive Norther Wind Farm Belgium
Norther Wind Farm is impressive. The blades of the wind turbines rise around 180 metres above sea level, which is higher than the Maastoren in Rotterdam. For the construction, Norther worked with two suppliers: MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and Van Oord. Van Oord was responsible for the design, engineering, delivery and commissioning of the foundations for the wind turbines. They also managed the electrical infrastructure and organised the transport of the wind turbines. We carried out the construction management. The Danish MHI Vestas supplied the 44 turbines, each with a maximum production capacity of 8.4 MW. Norther is an offshore wind farm with a maximum capacity of 370 MW and is located in the North Sea off the coast of Belgium, about 23 kilometres from the port of Zeebrugge. The energy generated goes to the Belgium electricity grid. The stakeholders in this project are experienced in the development of sustainable projects: Elicio from Belgium, Eneco from the Netherlands and Diamond Generating Europe.
